RAF Benson is a front line support helicopter base working within the Joint Helicopter Command and is located with our Regional Prime South East contract.
The site is one of the busiest Stations in the RAF, with personnel deploying regularly in support of current operations so the annual Families Day is an important part of supporting local Service families and raising the morale of those living and working on the Estate.
Amey teams helped to ensure the day went without a hitch by providing crowd control fencing to parts of the airfield to allow more than 5000 visitors to safely take full advantage of the day’s events which included a military working dogs display, fixed-wing and helicopter display, a vintage a classic car area and a full programme of flying demonstrations.
Our team also erected Herras fencing and provided skips to help with the waste generated throughout the day. Once the event was over, our teams moved swiftly and efficiently to remove the fencing before putting everything back into place.
Base Commander, Group Capt. Adam Wardrope noted gratitude for the support that Amey gave to the RAF Benson 2019 Families Day and said “The event is the largest event of the year for the Station and would not be possible without Amey’s support. The Families Day is a key event for me to show gratitude to my personnel and their families for the sterling support they give me throughout the year.”
Gerwyn Jones, Amey’s Area Manager added “RAF Benson may appear a small Station, but it’s a very busy and community focused site so it’s really important that we support events such as this. By working closely with the Station and our supply chain partners, RDM and Tivoli Ltd, the day ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all those who attended.”
