A team from our Defence housing contract recently carried out a community project to freshen up the paint work to the interior walls of one of the Station’s welfare properties at RAF Brize Norton.
The RAF base has nine well welfare houses that are used by Unit Personnel and their families, as well as military personnel stationed within the UK and overseas units. Its close location to Oxford and its excellent public transport and road links to London, means the Welfare houses are utilised in conjunction with hospital admissions and provide comfortable accommodation for visiting families.
All walls in the property were painted by our team and the property was given a thorough clean. Our grounds maintenance suppliers, Tivoli Ltd, also lent their support by tidying up the gardens.
Yvonne Conway, Welfare Officer, Service Community Support Officer, at Brize Norton, was delighted with our team’s efforts and said “Due to its continuous use, the property was badly in need of redecoration and some general maintenance. John Eyles, Amey’s Area Manager for Brize Norton stepped in and offered an Amey community project incentive to provide materials along with willing Amey volunteers; including Accommodation Officers, office staff and contractors to rejuvenate the tired property. The Unit would like to pass on their upmost thanks for reviving the bungalow and making it again into a ‘home from home’ experience.”
