Amey Defence teams embark on a tree planting project at RAF Lyneham

Amey teams based at RAF Lyneham, in our Defence housing contract, recently organised a local volunteering event to plant 16 trees at nearby Pintail Court to improve the look of the MOD estate for local Service families.

During recent work in the area, several trees had been removed and our team decided they would take advantage of their Amey volunteering day to source and organise for new ones to be planted in their place. They approached our local grounds maintenance supplier, Tivoli Ltd, for advice and were delighted when they offered to help with the sourcing and planting of the trees.

A mixture of trees were planted including, Silver and Red Birch, Pink Cherry Blossom, Acers and a Genko Tree. These trees will bring some much needed colour into the estate as their leaves and flowers are a mixture of pink, orange and red.

The local community and indeed our own teams, are excited to see how the trees mature over the coming years. The project has not only improved the overall look of the area but will provide food, protection and homes for the many birds and mammals that live nearby.
